We play a foundational role in the success of the company. </div><div><br></div><div>As a Systems Engineer at Zoox, you will be working with members of the System Safety, Hardware, and Software Development Teams to design, develop, and deploy systems that enable and support autonomous driving. You are responsible for ensuring these systems are developed within a safety engineering process that results in end-to-end traceability and achievement of both system safety targets and product requirements. </div><br><br><h3>In this role, you will:</h3><ul><li>Own the overall  safety engineering of the collision avoidance system</li><li>Develop system safety and performance requirements for the collision avoidance system, and decompose those across various subsystems.</li><li>Perform system-level analyses using simulation and data mining tools to support the development of system safety requirements.</li><li>Perform impact analysis to evaluate and ensure the safety case is preserved when features undergo updates or when field issues arise.</li><li>Perform risk analysis and quantification of known limitations of the system.</li><li>Update safety analyses and requirements to enable expansion of the operational design domain of the robot.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>B.S. degree in Automotive, Aerospace, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering</li><li>Minimum 4 years of experience performing system-level analyses (vehicle driving simulations, data mining, risk assessments, sensor field of view studies, etc.) for enabling the development of perception, planning and motion control systems. </li><li>Experience with developing Collision Avoidance systems or similar Active Safety systems </li><li>Proficient with statistics and probability</li><li>Collaborative team player with strong written and communication skills</li></ul><h3>Bonus Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>M.S. or higher in Automotive, Aerospace, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering</li><li>Experience with data analysis tools (Databricks, BigQuery, Looker, Grafana)</li><li>Experience with developing safety-critical systems</li><li>Familiarity with safety standards such as ISO26262 and ISO21448</li><li>Experience with hazard analysis, Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA), fault tree analysis (FTA), System Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), etc.</li></ul><br><div><b>About Zoox</b></div><div>Zoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market.
