About the Job

Who We Are

Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro has spent eight years developing autonomous driving (AD) technology and commercializing AD applications. The Nuro Driver™ is our world-class autonomous driving system that combines AD hardware with our generalized AI-first self-driving software. Built to learn and improve through data, the Nuro Driver™ is one of the few driverless autonomous technologies on public roads today.

Nuro has raised over $2B in capital from Fidelity, Bailie Gifford, T. Rowe Price, Google, and other leading investors. We’ve partnered with some of the world’s most respected brands including Uber, FedEx, Domino’s, Walmart, Kroger, and 7-Eleven.

About the Role

Work closely with the autonomy software teams to strategically define and verify autonomy performance. You’ll be responsible for authoring requirements and designing automated tests for a wide range of robot maneuvers and agent interactions in critical geographic scopes. Your risk assessment of the test outcomes will drive software architecture, development, engineering roadmap, and gate software release. We set the bar high, your verification work will let us prove that.

About the Work

  • Strategically develop, document, and communicate requirements for various autonomy functions.
  • Write Python software to verify autonomy functions in simulation, closed course, and on-road test modalities.
  • Quantify and recommend scenario coverage to stress test requirements, including ensuring the realism and relevance of proposed scenes.
  • Work closely with simulation engineers to set requirements on features that ensure high fidelity performance evaluation of autonomy functions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams like vehicle, sensors, compute to quantify the dependence of autonomy functional performance on platform capability.

About You

  • Deep understanding of how robotic systems work and ability to leverage this knowledge to build tooling and infrastructure to evaluate them.
  • 6+ years experience in software application development in automated simulation environments.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to apply systems engineering concepts of requirements, verification and validation.
  • Strong Python programming and algorithmic problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Preference for experience working deeply on at least one core autonomy module: localization, perception, prediction, path planning.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $202,350 and $303,050 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.

At Nuro, we celebrate differences and are committed to a diverse workplace that fosters inclusion and psychological safety for all employees.
