Today, Canplas manufactures high-quality plastic plumbing, ventilation, central vacuum and grease separation products for residential and commercial buildings all over the continent.</p><p></p><p>JOB <span>PURPOSE</span></p><p>The incumbent’s engineering duties involve carrying out projects, segments of projects, tooling modifications, design of new parts and/or tooling, creating technical drawings, part testing, developing manufacturing processes and/or work instructions, supporting new product launches and duties assigned by the Design Supervisor or the Tooling and Design Specialists.</p><p></p><p><b>Hours Of Work:</b> 8:00AM-4:15PM</p><p><b>Pay Rate:</b> $22.00/hour</p><h1></h1><h1>Principle <span>accountabilities</span></h1><h2>New Product <span>Design</span></h2><ul><li>Create part designs using inputs from the Innovation <span>team.</span></li><li>Use 3D CAD to design and evaluate new products for conformance to required standards i.e. CSA, NSF, UL, etc.</li><li>Produce or acquire prototypes to evaluate the function and manufacturability of new products.</li><li>Create detail drawings for manufacturing, certification, and QA <span>purposes.</span></li><li>Conduct Design-Review meetings of new products with team and other support personnel. (Final design is to be signed off by managers)</li><li>Assist in resolving critical dimensions and inspection <span>requirements.</span></li><li>work with interdisciplinary teams from the beginning of product design to the product launch</li></ul><p></p><h2>New Mould/Tooling Acquisition and <span>Commissioning</span></h2><ul><li><p><span>Get quotes from approved <span>suppliers</span></span></p></li><li>Working with Purchasing Department to issue purchase <span>orders</span></li><li>Conducting interdepartmental Design-Review meeting for<span> mould/tooling</span></li><li>Work with Logistics to arrange the shipping of the<span> mould</span></li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Inspect/evaluate mould when it arrives in <span>house</span></li><li>Issue test<span> notice</span></li><li>Work with processing department and QA to witness/evaluate the<span> test.</span></li><li>Work with the Mould Supervisor to facilitate any mould modifications<span> required.</span></li></ul><h2>Automation, Assembly, and Jig/Fixture <span>Design</span></h2><ul><li>Work with production personnel and QA to assess requirements for assembly jigs fixtures and automation.</li><li>Design jigs and fixtures using 3D CAD<span> program.</span></li><li>Create detailed drawings for outside or internal machine <span>shops.</span></li><li>Work with the Mould Shop personnel or outside suppliers to get components <span>manufactured.</span></li><li>Assemble and fix the jigs and <span>fixtures.</span></li><li>Train the production trainers in the use of the jig and <span>fixtures.</span></li></ul><h2></h2><h2><span>Mould/Tooling</span> <span>Modifications</span></h2><ul><li>Use appropriate measuring instruments to reverse engineer various components.
