This person will work closely with landowners, local governments, and community organizations to gain support for proposed projects. They will also work closely with internal departments including Legal, Development, and Engineering in support of developing viable project sites.  The Land Agent will lead the process of contacting landowners and negotiating the purchase or lease of their land as well as gaining easements and other surface use agreements.  </div><div><br></div><div>This position reports to the Manager of Greenfield Development, or another senior management personnel that the CDO of the Company may designate. This position may be required to travel up to 50% of the time, with travel to headquarters and proposed project sites across the United States.</div><br><br><h3>RESPONSIBILITIES</h3><ul><li>Work with company’s management to develop and execute land acquisition strategies for greenfield projects, existing projects and project acquisitions</li><li>Obtain source documentation needed for easements or leases from public records found online, or located in county courthouses or abstract offices</li><li>Research land and landowner records, locate contact information, phone numbers and email addresses </li><li>Initiate contact with landowners</li><li>Organize and deliver presentations to individual landowners, small groups of landowners and at times, large groups of landowners</li><li>Negotiate and acquire easements/leases for renewable energy development and related agreements from project landowners with a comprehensive understanding of the terms and conditions of the company’s land agreements</li><li>Collaborate with the legal team to oversee the delivery of accurate, complete, and authenticated agreements</li><li>Organize documents, records and files pertaining to each prospective site or project</li><li>Communicate land status inventory through use of database and GIS mapping tools provided</li><li>Maintain communications with landowners as necessary through the full development life cycle</li><li>Assist Legal team with title curative matters including obtaining signatures on additional curative  landowner documents </li><li>Assist with document recording</li><li>Assist with crossing agreements</li><li>Assist with contacting mineral owners</li><li>Attend regular project and team meetings</li><li>Administrative duties such as creating and tracking purchase order requests and vendor invoices</li><li>Create weekly project reports</li><li>Take ownership of assigned projects, including managing deadlines, multiple project objectives, project timelines, and success criteria for each</li></ul><h3>QUALIFICATIONS</h3><ul><li>Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree</li><li>Minimum of 10 years of land acquisition experience with a minimum of 2 years of renewable energy-related land acquisition experience preferred</li><li>Comprehensive understanding of real estate matters</li><li>Familiarity with land records</li><li>Confidence to make cold calls and knock-on doors</li><li>Experience with land contracts </li><li>High proficiency in communication; both oral and written</li><li>High proficiency in reading and interpreting maps</li><li>Must be able to troubleshoot problems and find solutions independently.
