Help us create a better future, quicker
As Senior Engineer (Protection, Control and Metering), you will be responsible for managing and carry out technical lead duties of our Offshore Wind projects.
Ensuring that Protection, Control and Metering (PCM) systems are designed and delivered in accordance to regulations, industry relevant standards and best engineering practices, you will co-ordinate and technically lead the PCM discipline for projects, from the tender process through to project execution and contract closure.
What you’ll be doing
Confirming designs developed by different Contractors are consistent, technically safe and coordinated with the rest of the Windfarm design, you will provide support and expertise to relevant project areas, ensuring key packages are technically compliant to minimise costs/risks on PCM items.
Providing professional advice on technical engineering detail and levels of risk, to ensure that cost effective technical solutions are identified, fully evaluated and risk profile is fully understood by the project, you will be responsible for justifying technical decisions to ensure all assessments, recommendations and decisions are fully documented and that sufficient technical and commercial due diligence is in place.
Balancing technical detail with commercial needs and providing recommendations, taking into account all relevant risks, you will ensure adequate testing is passed before delivery of the system to site, including witness to inspections and FAT at contractor’s facilities.
Leading and coordinating Project Engineers, Consultants and Contractors where required to deliver the package for the project, you will collaborate with Contract Managers for terms and specification to secure best value and minimise costs or risks.
Supporting commissioning activities for key engineering design items, ensuring assets are effectively commissioned for transfer into O&M phase, you will detail all reporting about progress, technical or commercial issues, interfaces and risks to relevant stakeholders.
Maintaining full awareness of the latest technical and commercial developments, identifying suitable new PCM technologies which have the potential to reduce cost, risk or improve safety, you will also ensure appropriate lessons learnt are captured and shared across the different Offshore Project work packages.
Including all of the above, you will also be responsible for Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, ensuring all are fully considered and adhered to in design which comply with legislation and industry best practice in coordination with Senior HSQE Advisors.
What you’ll bring
With substantial experience designing and working in the Offshore industry, preferably Offshore Wind, you will be educated to degree level in an Electrical Engineering discipline and be flexible to travel around the UK and overseas.
Experienced in Engineering specification and design of Protection, Control and Metering systems (control philosophy, technical specifications, I/O lists, control architecture, communication network, control logics, interlocks, electrical protection design criteria, protection philosophy, protection SLD, metering design criteria and metering SLD), you will possess expertise in the technical management of Protection, Control and Metering contracts which also includes contract management, programme management, cost and risk control as well as act as focal point between Contractor and relevant Stakeholders (O&M, Electrical, Quality, Delivery, Procurement and Legal).
