Job Description Summary:

The Senior SCADA Engineer will be responsible to provide leadership and technical expertise in the design, development and delivery of the SOLV OTS SCADA solution on large scale PV and BESS projects.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead the development of monitoring and control systems for utility scale renewable energy projects including but not limited to; Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems and Wind.

  • Work within a team environment to develop system requirements and detailed proposals to respond to client RFP’s.

  • Work within a team environment to define and implement product design standards and best practices that align with company goals and objectives.

  • Provide team oversight in the development of device points lists, IP address lists, Logic Diagrams, HMI mockups & assets, commissioning test plans and completion checklists, utilizing company defined documentation and standards.

  • Program and commission PLC controllers, SCADA servers, data historians, and HMI systems.

  • Review project closeout documentation including; commissioning documents, as-built drawings, operator manuals and training material to verify all contractual deliverables have been met.

  • Provide expert level technical support for diverse SCADA equipment configurations.

  • Develop and maintain a centralized knowledge base, publish SCADA technical-support bulletins.

  • Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site commissioning and installation support.

  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams where necessary to support platform development and data integration.

  • Provide project status reports to SOLV Technology group project management team, support risk mitigation measures as needed to maintain project goals and objectives.

  • Promote and adhere to a culture of NERC compliance and governance with respect to programming and commissioning standards, documentation, reporting, knowledge transfer and training.

  • Support the SOLV Operation center as necessary for project integrations and handoffs.

  • Promote continuous training and career development within the broader team.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Engineering degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred. Minimum of 7+ years of engineering experience (experience working within renewable energy including; industrial or utility scale PV solar, BESS or Wind desired). Direct experience in SCADA engineering

  • Proficient with programming languages including but not limited to; C, C++, Java, Python, Structured Text (IEC61131-3).

  • Mastery with Inductive Automation’s Ignition SCADA platform and/or Kepware KEPServerEX.

  • Mastery of setting up servers, relational databases, and SCADA applications.

  • Mastery working with industry recognized PLC equipment including but not limited to Schweitzer Engineering RTAC Platform, Allen Bradley Control / CompactLogix platform, GE / Emerson RX3i, or similar “named variable” PLC environments.

  • Strong knowledge of design, installation and commissioning of SCADA networks using; Fiber Optics, Serial RS-232 / RS-485, and Ethernet TCP/IP.

  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation protocols including but not limited to; Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA and DA.

  • Proficiency in reading and developing diagrams and schematics including but not limited to, power system, networking and control, electrical, mechanical and civil layouts.

  • In-depth understanding of power plant operating procedures and control system interaction with governing bodies such as: Regional Compliance Entities, Independent System Operators, Transmission Operators, and Generator Operators.

  • Ability to work with sub-contractors and field personnel.

  • Proficiency with various project management, scheduling, and task management tools.

  • Excellent Communication Skills.

Compensation Range:

$125,114.00 - $166,402.00
