Location: Hybrid, Grass Valley, CA

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,00
Position Overview
The Director of Project Development will work hand-in-hand with the Director of Revenue in pursuing, developing, and contracting new business opportunities and maximizing the value of programmatic customers to achieve BoxPower bookings and revenue targets. This role is responsible for coordinating the technical support, subject matter experts, and resources necessary to develop projects from initial proposals through preliminary design, contract negotiation and closing. The Director of Project Development will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, finance, regulatory, and sales teams, to ensure that projects are successfully booked and handed off to execution in alignment with BoxPower's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the project development process, including proposal generation, feasibility studies, contract development, and hand-offs to execution.
- Manage and mentor the Project Development team to ensure company goals and timelines are met.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, strategic partners, authorities having jurisdiction, and channel partners.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Sales) to align project development activities with company goals.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with project development, including cost, schedule, technical, regulatory, financial, and environmental risks.
- Support contract development, including EPC agreements, O&M agreements, programmatic MSA’s, and partnering agreements.
- Stay informed on market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
- Report on the department's performance metrics and development pipeline to senior management.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in project development within the renewable energy sector, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successfully leading project development efforts from inception to closing.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy project economics, technical design, construction, permitting, and contracting.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to think strategically, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and lead cross-functional teams.
