About the Job
Overview
Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties:
Responsibilities
- Ensures all phases of manufacturing are being performed effectively
- Identifies and solves any problems with equipment or personnel
- Maintains open communication with scheduling, quality, maintenance and warehouse to ensure production schedules are met
- Trains employees on production floor
- Complies with and enforces all company policies and procedures
- Ensures consistent and maximum throughput while maintaining quality
- Ensures that product loss and scrap are kept to a minimum
- Keeps plant production area in ‘tour-ready’ condition at all times
- Ensure compliance with plant safety rules
- Ensure accident reporting and accident investigations are timely and thorough
- Perform operational practices and observe work to ensure compliance with standards
- Resolve worker concerns and/or submit unsettled complaints to Human Resources for action
- Record production data as required
- Work with support departments to develop and implement productivity improvements
- Summarize and communicate shift activity

- Education and/or Experience: High School/GED or equivalent. At least 1 year of experience.
- Computer skills: must have basic computer skills.
- Communication skills: both verbal and written a must.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common production reports and company documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the work team. Ability to effectively present information to management or work teams
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Forklift Operation. Training and certification available
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
