Apollo is seeking a debt finance-focused Counsel to join its Legal team. The role will provide dedicated legal support and counsel on large cap corporate credit direct lending transactions, among other transactions of varying size, scope and complexity for Apollo’s Direct Lending business, which is part of Apollo’s broader Global Corporate Credit platform.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and drive execution on large cap corporate credit direct lending transactions in partnership with Apollo’s direct lending investment professionals
Advise on structuring, negotiation and documentation of complex direct lending transactions, including, but not limited to, commitment papers, note purchase agreements, intercreditor agreements and loan agreements
Provide legal guidance on portfolio management, including with respect to amendments, waivers, and consents
Take a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating legal risk in transaction documentation
Explain and communicate legalese and legal advice in a clear and concise manner to provide Global Corporate Credit teams with the agency and leverage necessary to drive creative solutions for the firm’s clients
Manage and work alongside outside counsel to facilitate top tier legal advice on transaction documentation
Serve as a resource for investment professionals key legal issues in the market
Liaise with teams across Apollo, including Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance, etc., to manage risk and policy compliance
Qualifications & Experience
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school; member in good standing with the New York State Bar Association
6-8+ years of relevant legal experience in corporate finance, preferably at a top-tier law firm or financial institution
Deep understanding of financing documents, including covenant reviews and the dynamics of liability management
Demonstrated ability to manage legal risks and provide practical, business-focused legal advice
Superior interpersonal skills; builds and maintains strong relationships/credibility with relevant stakeholders
Exceptional communication/interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
Can execute strategy with the appropriate sense of urgency while also maintaining a grasp of the details
Effectively balances multiple competing/concurrent projects
Thinks critically and proposes business-oriented solutions that combine excellent judgement, creativity and technical expertise
Can work independently, as well as in collaborative partnership with a global team
Thrives in a fast-paced, rigorous work environment; effectively prioritizes and meets deadlines
Pay Range
250,000 - 300,000Apollo Global Management, Inc. (together with its subsidiaries and affiliates) is committed to championing opportunity.

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
