About the Job

Full time, permanent position based in Girraween, NSW.
Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
Salary dependent on candidate skills and experience.
An extra 1.5% superannuation paid on top of national standard rate.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this role will be responsible for the identification of asbestos fibres according to the ISO 17025 accredited laboratory test methods. This may be restricted to building materials only, or additionally be extended to soils with suitable training and experience. The Asbestos Counter will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of airborne fibre monitoring samples in accordance with the laboratory test method.

Key accountabilities include but not limited to:

Perform routine asbestos analytical, physical tests and sample preparation as required.
Control own work flows.
Ensure samples are tested in a timely manner, completed and integrity of results maintained.
Ensure correct methods are used and adhered to.
Calibrate and maintain equipment, ensuring maintenance logs are kept up to date.
Ensure correct quality control procedures are used and adhered to, including Asbestos internal quality control sample analysis.
Identify and report quality issues and implement the correct and preventative actions.
Perform all the analysis assigned by the section supervisor.
Monitor, encourage and support laboratory technicians as required.
