Energy Functional group, including leading, design management and design delivery for projects medium/large projects for Building Services, Power Reticulation (Electrification), Distribution Substations, Streetlighting, Urban Energy, Water Treatment Works, Pumpstations, Solar Design, Asset Management and Master Planning.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES <ul><li>Make good decisions on own initiative</li><li>Good software tool understanding, works alone with minimum supervision whilst producing tool deliverables</li><li>Able to organise information well and communicate design intent through software tool output.  e.g. structure a drawing correctly and communicate design intent through drawing using CAD</li><li>Understands the principles of the design process and how design is translated into deliverables using software tools.</li><li>Understands the key project issues and how these influence their individual work</li><li>Taking ownership and responsibility for their own work and completing it to time and cost  </li><li>Trains technicians and junior staff in relevant software tools</li><li>Supervises and checks the work of other team members</li><li>Develops increased design ability and quality</li><li>Drafts technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality</li><li>Able to present / represent their technical work</li><li>Able to draft responses to straightforward bids – assistance sought with commercial aspects</li><li>Develop knowledge of the commercial aspects of project management</li><li>Successful in identifying and following through on leads associated with additional work prospects on the projects they are involved with</li><li>Regular clients contact under direction of more senior manager</li><li>Ability to check and inspect constructed works for compliance with design and specifications</li><li>Undertakes monitoring and proposes remedial actions</li><li>Understand and implement local functional business technologies and markets</li><li>Direct and manage project development from beginning to end</li><li>Develop project scope and deliverables that support client business goals in collaboration with all stakeholders</li><li>Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents</li><li>Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion</li><li>Liaise with project stakeholders on an on-going basis</li><li>Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals</li><li>Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments</li><li>Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders</li><li>Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel</li><li>Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team</li><li>Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path</li><li>Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools</li><li>Track project milestones and deliverables</li><li>Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations</li><li>Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans</li><li>Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work</li><li>Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project</li><li>Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements</li><li>Proactive approach in developing work or being aware of what projects are likely to come up from key clients</li><li>Submission of Expression of Interest (EOIs) and proposals on behalf of SMEC &amp;
