You will also be responsible for defining the requirements, specifications, algorithms, and user workflows for scenario taxonomy, coverage sampling, and coverage evaluation. You will drive software architecture and development, engineering roadmaps, validation, operations, and the safety case. You will also be responsible for defining the requirements and validation strategy for both offline and online mapping.About the Work<ul><li>Support Nuro’s scenario coverage program, including the specification and decomposition of the hierarchical scenario space, the definition of requirements and user stories for tooling, and the specification and development of algorithms relating to defining and evaluating scenario coverage, and engaging with both stakeholders and developers.</li><li>Support inferences from both randomly-sampled and non-randomly-sampled test datasets by developing and applying statistical models and designing appropriate experiments.</li><li>Support the safety case by identifying, documenting, and communicating Autonomy safety claims and decomposed system requirements related to the context map.</li><li>Engage with the context map team to guide and audit scenario-based testing frameworks, apply  analytical techniques for risk identification such as Hazards and Risk Analysis (HARA) and Systems Theoretical Process Analysis (STPA), and interpret probabilistic test results.</li></ul>About You<ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or Doctoral Degree in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or related field.</li><li>5+ years of technical work experience in a relevant area with 3+ years of experience with development or validation of autonomous vehicles/robotic systems, ideally with the following (not necessarily in industry):<ul><li>Experience in algorithm development, data manipulation, and statistical analysis (Bayesian preferred) in Python (or equivalent). </li><li>Experience with scenario-based testing frameworks, traffic scenario labeling, and metrics (e.g. NHTSA, ISO 34502, ISO 34503).</li><li>Experience in software application development for simulation, robotics, NeRF, or GenAI in Python or C++.</li><li>Working knowledge of kinematics and rigid transformations.</li></ul></li><li>Working knowledge of and ability to apply systems engineering concepts of requirements, verification and validation.</li><li>Highly collaborative in nature, with strong abilities to think and communicate analytically and effectively, and the ability to build good working relationships.</li></ul>Bonus Points<ul><li>Background in autonomous vehicles ideally with L4 AV deployment.</li><li>Experience with ISO 21448.</li><li>Familiarity with ISO 8800.</li><li>Familiarity with set cover algorithms.</li><li>Detailed understanding of driving rules/regulations and/or traffic engineering.</li><li>Experience with configuration management tools for requirements, documentation, and software.</li></ul> At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $167,200 and $303,050 for the levels at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply.
