About the Job
At Serve Robotics, we’re reimagining how things move in cities. Our personable sidewalk robot is our vision for the future. It’s designed to take deliveries away from congested streets, make deliveries available to more people, and benefit local businesses.
The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity.
Who We Are
We are tech industry veterans in software, hardware, and design who are pooling our skills to build the future we want to live in. We are solving real-world problems leveraging robotics, machine learning and computer vision, among other disciplines, with a mindful eye towards the end-to-end user experience. Our team is agile, diverse, and driven. We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully.
Role Overview
As a systems integration engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that our robot functions as intended and driving issues to resolution when it doesn’t. You will own the bring-up and test of new components and subsystems for an autonomous sidewalk robot. You will serve as the glue of the organization, working across many teams and disciplines to help bring together the many pieces of a complex system into a single functional unit.
Responsibilities
Work with interdisciplinary teams to formulate and execute bring-up, characterization, and validation plans for various components and subsystems
Develop test methods that meet requirement intent; this will include protocol development, fixture design, test method validation, test script development, analysis of data, and report/test summary generation
Work with interdisciplinary teams through complex root-cause analysis and resolution in which there are many possible root causes that involve various areas of engineering, using a structured approach for problem solving
Drive complex integration activities (e.g. bring-up, calibration, tuning) across interdisciplinary hardware and software subject areas
Support development of tooling (including development of test software) for interdisciplinary test activities across the organization (e.g. system characterization testing, system verification and validation testing, transfer-to-manufacturing of bring-up/diagnostic tests, etc.)
Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent engineering field
3+ years of experience in the design, integration, and test of electromechanical systems
Experience developing and executing comprehensive test protocols for electromechanical and/or robotic systems
Experience in data analysis of test results including probability and statistical analysis techniques
Hands-on approach to the test and debugging of electromechanical systems
Fundamental knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audiences ranging from technicians to senior executives
What Makes You Standout
M.S., or Ph.D in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent engineering field
Experience in one or more of the following industries: automotive, medical, aerospace, robotics
Experience developing software scripts (Python, Bash) for automating hardware tests
Experience working in Unix/Linux environments
