Position OverviewApollo is seeking an Associate in our Asset-Backed Finance (ABF) team to support the growth and evolution of the business in Europe. The Europe ABF business currently comprises of strategies across three main verticals with a very wide range of asset classes: (1) Performing / Investment Grade, (2) Opportunistic Asset-Backed, and (3) Opportunistic Asset-Backed Multi-Credit.The successful candidate will lead on structuring and execution of ABF transactions, with an initial emphasis on performing collateral and asset classes away from traditional residential mortgage transactions. Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>Lead the execution of investments, including managing the deal process from start to finish</li><li>Own end-to-end securitization process management, including application of Rating Agency methodology, investor cash flow modelling, communication with counsel and rating agencies on documentation, and transaction execution and negotiations with transaction counterparties</li><li>Manage due diligence on potential investments, including business fundamentals and valuation; capital structure, credit issues and restructuring dynamics</li><li>Lead first-look analysis on new deals to filter through and identify potential opportunities</li><li>Partner with multiple functional groups, including Apollo PE / FIG, Redding Ridge, and operating platforms, to develop new products and structure innovative solutions for existing businesses</li><li>Take a proactive role in deal origination, working with entire ABF team and other parts of Apollo (including FIG) to develop opportunities for Apollo to deploy from its various capital sources</li><li>Present and defend investment recommendations to the Investment Committee</li><li>Assist the team with additional ad hoc projects and requests including but not limited to portfolio monitoring, reporting, investor requests and presentations</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; Experience<ul><li>4+ years of experience in investment banking and/or principal investing, with a focus in structured finance; preference for broad base of experience in assets classes beyond solely residential mortgages</li><li>Solid understanding of securitisation capital markets, related rating agency methodologies, structured finance legal set-ups, and credit asset economics</li><li>Undergraduate degree with a record of academic achievement</li><li>Some European language fluency preferred</li><li>Excellent attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Robust interpersonal skills to support communication with external counterparties and management of internal stakeholders, both within Credit ecosystem and across broader investment platform</li><li>A “collaboration-first” mindset and a desire to work within a team that values collective results</li><li>Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment; adept at managing competing priorities across multiple projects, transactions, and workstreams</li></ul>About ApolloApollo is a high-growth, global alternative asset manager.
