DRI is dedicated to accelerating the energy transition in Central, Eastern and Southern Europe.

Our mission is to work in underserved markets in Europe to achieve their net zero goals through the creation of a portfolio of 5GW of renewable energy and BESS project by 2028.

We currently work in Croatia, Italy, Poland, and Romania. We have already established a portfolio of onshore wind, solar and BESS projects, and currently we completed the construction of 3 projects, which are now exporting power. In Italy, we have acquired 7 projects at different stages of development.

As the Legal Counsel, you will work on Italian development matters (acquisition and management of land, grid connection, permitting, regulations, etc.), provide advice on contractual matters and general business operations related legal topics.

The applicant will ideally have over 7+ years of experience within a similar role in industrial or energy business, or a law firm. You will report to the Head of Legal at DRI, and have a dotted reporting line with the Italy country manager.

What you will do:

  • Provide general assistance and legal advice on contractual matters as required to support DRI's business
  • Local development matters such as regulations, acquisition of land, grid connection, permitting, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, finance professionals, and senior management, to provide legal support and guidance throughout contractual matters
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, such as clients, vendors and external legal counsel, to address legal matters and negotiate contractual terms
  • Handle contractual claims and associated correspondence with counterparties
  • Supervise outside legal counsels and control DRI’s budget for the legal services
  • Perform other ad hoc legal tasks

What you bring:

  • Qualified lawyer with a bachelor or master’s degree (Italian law) combined with practical experience in a similar capacity
  • Aim-oriented, proactive and communicative personality with entrepreneurial thinking capable of working independently
  • Experience in the power industry, preferably with matters in relation to regulations, land acquisition, grid connection and permitting
  • Readiness to irregular international business trips
  • Excellent command Italian and English
