Argonne National Laboratory
Postdoctoral Appointee - Holotomography and Dynamic X-ray Imaging
2 months ago
About the Job
The X-ray Imaging Group (IMG) of the Advanced Photon Source (APS) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in computational science and image processing to develop innovative methods for holotomography and to perform dynamic experiments using the Projection X-ray Microscope (PXM) instrument for studying microelectronics. As part of a collaborative team, the successful candidate will participate in a broad spectrum of research activities, utilizing state-of-the-art instrumentation at beamline 32-ID.
The use of holotomography with PXM enables full-field imaging with spatial resolutions ranging from 20 to 200 nm and temporal resolutions of less than 1 minute for 3D data acquisition. The PXM’s capability to operate at high X-ray energies (>20 keV) allows for enhanced penetration and reduced radiation exposure compared to other X-ray imaging techniques. While holotomography is a well-established technique, there is significant potential to improve the acquisition schemes for dynamic imaging and the reconstruction methods currently in use.
The successful candidate will contribute to these advancements, developing new computational methods to enhance the imaging of dynamic processes. This work will facilitate the comprehensive characterization of microelectronics under various conditions, including thermal, mechanical, and radiation stresses. The software developed through this project will become part of a new holotomography software package actively being developed by the team.
