About the Job
Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, IL is seeking a Scientist in Optical Properties and Dynamics of Quantum Systems. The individual will be responsible in equal measure both for self-directed, collaborative research science as well as support of CNM users. Staff-led science goals include building a world-leading experimental program based on harnessing the capabilities of optical microscopies and laser spectroscopies in the ultraviolet thru near-infrared spectral range in studies such as single quantum emitter/chromophore characterizations, emitter-cavity couplings, quantum material behavior such as correlated electron materials, novel plasmonics, 2D materials physics, etc.
Position Requirements
Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field
Experience with optical microscopies, laser spectroscopies, photon correlation measurements, and/or quantum measurements and manipulations
Proven track record of research in areas such as quantum information sciences, energy materials, photophysics, or opto/microelectronics
Strong ability to collaborate with a diverse research community and provide scientific guidance
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork
RD2: Bachelors and 5+ years of experience, Masters and 3+ years, or PhD and 0+ years, or equivalent

Full timeThe expected hiring range for this position is $90,063.00 - $143,010.27.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs. Additionally, comprehensive benefits are part of the total rewards package.
