About the Job
The Hardware Specialist will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing hardware components and systems used in manufacturing processes. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, R&D, and manufacturing, to ensure the successful integration and performance of hardware solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware engineering, with expertise in hardware design, electrical schematics, test connector design, PLC programming, and robot programming and integration to enhance the overall functionality and efficiency of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Design and Optimization:
- Design, develop, and optimize hardware components and systems to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and throughput.
- Focus on electrical schematics, test connector design, and integration of hardware systems into manufacturing processes.
- Implement hardware design principles and continuous improvement initiatives to drive product excellence.
Hardware System Development:
- Design, develop, and implement hardware systems, including control circuits, sensors, and mechanical components, for manufacturing environments.
- Develop electrical schematics and specifications for hardware components and systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware solutions into existing manufacturing processes and automation systems.
- Design and test connectors for various hardware applications to ensure compatibility and reliability.
- Develop and maintain documentation for hardware systems, including wiring diagrams and component specifications.
PLC Programming and System Integration:
- Develop and implement PLC programs for control systems in manufacturing environments.
- Integrate PLC programming with hardware systems to ensure seamless operation and control.
- Troubleshoot and optimize PLC code to improve hardware system performance.
Robot Programming and Integration:
- Program and integrate robotic systems into manufacturing processes for automation tasks such as material handling, assembly, and quality inspection.
- Design, configure, and optimize robotic systems to ensure efficient and reliable operation in the manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of robotic systems with existing hardware and automation systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to robotic systems, including programming, hardware integration, and system performance.
- Continuously improve robotic system efficiency and functionality through iterative testing and optimization.
Supplier and Vendor Management:
- Interface with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality of hardware components.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on capability, quality, and cost-effectiveness for hardware components.
- Collaborate with suppliers on the development and customization of hardware solutions.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Provide technical support for hardware systems in the manufacturing environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues that impact manufacturing processes and performance.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for hardware systems to ensure reliable and consistent operation.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all hardware systems meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety protocols for hardware components in the manufacturing environment.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards for hardware and manufacturing systems.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical or hardware engineering, with a strong background in hardware design, electrical schematics, and PLC programming.
- Proficiency in hardware design tools (e.g., CAD software, circuit design tools, etc.) and hardware simulation software.
- Strong knowledge of hardware components, including sensors, actuators, control circuits, test connectors, and mechanical components.
- Experience in designing electrical schematics and test connectors for manufacturing applications.
- Extensive experience in PLC programming and integration with hardware systems.
- Proven experience in robot programming and integration within manufacturing environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in hardware design and testing.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
