Albedo is revolutionizing the space industry by building technology to commercialize Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO). Our first satellite, Clarity-1, is built upon our Precision bus, our VLEO-optimized platform designed specifically to thrive where other satellites cannot. With the successful launch of Clarity-1, we've proven our ability to deliver the highest resolution visible (10cm) and thermal (2m) imagery available commercially from space—a resolution previously possible only with aircraft and drones, but now available globally and on-demand.

Through the next couple of years, our focuses will be scaling production of our Precision bus to support the growing Clarity constellation and serving our customers the highest-resolution data. As part of the first 100 employees at Albedo, you will have a direct impact on on the above goals, whether that’s working directly on hardware to enhance our performance in VLEO, optimizing the pointing algorithms of our agile satellite, or delivering imagery to reduce wildfire risk, monitor carbon emissions from industrial power plants, or inform decision-makers on national security matters.

What You’ll Do:

Integration of hardware and software related to Albedo’s on board computer expansion board, FlatSat, and all the harnessing/cabling and integration between the two.
Integrate avionics hardware with the FlatSat testbed, including all harnessing and cabling.
Perform board bring-up, write drivers for all the various hardware and software components as necessary, and create useful, long-lasting documentation for these activities, inclusive of all integration activities in general.
Assist in the refinement of Albedo’s cable interconnect diagram (CID).

Your Ideal Skills and Experience:

3+ Years of Experience: Demonstrated track record in digital engineering roles
Deep understanding of electrical engineering first principles and digital circuit design
Understanding of basic circuit card design practices; experience with Altium is an advantage. Also understands basics on board bring-up on first article
Experience integrating digital subsystems and executing rigorous testing protocols to ensure robust performance and reliability
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve hardware-software integration issues effectively
Equally as comfortable in a lab setting testing hardware as at a workstation writing code or performing analysis
Proven hands-on experience in a lab setting, with proficiency in operating essential equipment (oscilloscope, digital multimeter, logic analyzer, etc.)
Familiar with VHDL, System Verilog, and basic FPGA design concepts
PCB bring-up experience
Familiar with tools like ModelSim and Vivado to validate designs and streamline development processes
Advanced proficiency in Python for automation, data analysis, and problem-solving; familiarity with additional programming languages is a plus
Foundational understanding of standards such as RS422, LVCMOS, and LVDS, including the principles of differential versus single-ended signaling and proper termination techniques
Proficient in fundamental protocols such as UART, SPI, and I2C

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel to other possible non-Albedo locations may be required.
