About the Job
AECOM Canada is seeking an experienced Lead Transit Engineer to join our growing Highways Engineering team. The successful candidate will be based in Burnaby and will play a key role in shaping and delivering transit infrastructure projects across Metro Vancouver, Canada, and beyond.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead and contribute to transit planning, design, and implementation projects, ensuring high-quality technical analysis and project coordination.
- Transit Network & Corridor Planning: Oversee planning and feasibility studies for bus rapid transit (BRT), light rail transit (LRT), commuter rail, and rapid transit expansion projects.
- Station & Facility Planning: Support the functional design and integration of transit stations, terminals, and multimodal hubs within urban environments.
- Policy & Business Case Development: Conduct transportation policy studies, business case assessments, and infrastructure investment evaluations to support transit expansion strategies.
- Operations & Service Planning: Provide expertise in transit service planning, fleet management strategies, and transit priority measures to optimize system performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Public Consultation: Work closely with government agencies, transit operators, and community groups to develop transit solutions that align with regional transportation goals such as transit oriented developments.
- Environmental & Regulatory Assessments: Support environmental impact studies and regulatory compliance for transit infrastructure projects.
- Data Analysis & Modeling: Utilize travel demand models, transit ridership forecasting tools, and operational simulation models to assess project viability and performance.
- Supporting Network: Experienced with planning for multi modal travel demands including integration with land use and other facilities such as local and regional mobility hubs, MUP and transit facilities.
- Business Development: Support and lead proposals, expressions of interest, and client engagement efforts to expand AECOM’s transit portfolio.
- Mentorship & Team Collaboration: Guide and mentor junior engineers and planners, fostering a collaborative environment.
