Position Specific Description

The SCADA Subject Matter Expert for the Distributed Generation group will be the primary lead on building and implementing the SCADA systems on projects across the country. 


This person must be a technical expert, but also have the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to a cross functional group of people, including leadership, both verbally and through remote and written communications. Successful candidates must be independent, have a strong work ethic, an urge to solve problems, a teaching personality to support the team, and a thirst for continuous learning and improvement.

 

This position has flexibility for remote work within the US


Job Duties & Responsibilities
•    Achieve projects deadlines pertaining to the scope of the SCADA system.
•    Works collaboratively with in-house resources and sub suppliers in various disciplines to determine project priorities, achieve milestones and actions, schedule and work plans to meet milestones.
•    Plans and schedules work and vendors to achieve portfolio deliverables.
•    Design, integrate, program, commission and test power plant controller and SCADA for Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Systems.  
•    Reviews and comments on 3rd party SCADA engineering design & PLC code.
•    Directly manage the SCADA Process and SCADA Vendor/integrator to meet project requirements and timelines.  
•    Support negotiations and convey SCADA approach to potential EPC’s and Approved SCADA Vendors.
•    Review internal exhibits, create Scopes of Work (SOW) for SCADA bids and pass directly to vendors as needed, to support Direct to Owner SCADA deployments 
•    Create and review point lists with SCADA Vendors and utilities/ISOs/PPAs, equipment manufacturers and other subsystem integrators 
•    Work with PV and BESS Engineering and management teams to ensure appropriate SCADA integration with respect to BESS, Inverters, Trackers, Wind Turbines, Meteorological sensors and more. 
•    Manage central HMI interface, Develop and review HMI narratives to show organization of pages, devices, points, controls, alarms and more.
•    Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications 
•    Commissioning and integration of SCADA systems
•    Control system architecture and PLC programs
•    Knowledge of Ignition, OPC protocol and SCADA historian.
•    Knowledge of automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP, others)
•    RTU to RTU interface and Programming 
•    Schedule and planning understanding 
•    Electrical and Communications plan-set understanding
•    Strong analytical skills, problem-solving
•    Knowledge of Utility Meters, Substation RTAC, Protection Relays
•    Knowledge managed switches, Hirschman’s, MOXA, Cisco, etc.
•    Knowledge of Networking, Cyber Security and Firewalls
•    Knowledge of renewable SCADA and control systems.
•    Ability to understand SCADA and communication schematics and drawings.
•    Project Management experience handling multiple consultants, vendors and EPCs.
•    Third party firm management

The estimated base pay for this position is $124,000.00 to $186,000.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
