About the Job
What you will do
With minimal direction, this position is responsible for Manufacturing Engineering activities related to Automotive Battery manufacturing, preparation for shipment, and separation for distribution process.
How you will do it
Develops new processes for battery manufacturing in accordance with current engineering standards and quality requirements.
Develops new equipment and processes for movement, storage, and internal distribution of batteries.
Works within matrix organization to deliver requirements of Program Management system.
Collaborates with manufacturing facilities to implement new processes and equipment.
Executes design validation builds, prototype builds, and production validation builds and testing.
Manages Manufacturing Engineering projects to scope, on time and within budget requirements.
Develop and expand on existing technologies to address immediate production needs.
Specific technological work includes developing, expanding, or modifying Oxide production, plate manufacturing, battery assembly equipment, Battery formation systems, automatic or semi-automatic label application, robotic applications, material handling systems, and battery decoration equipment.
Works within company ERP to verify or modify specific data such as decoration bill of materials, pallet patterns and quantities.
Responsible for tracking JumpStart savings, scrap saving by functional department assignment.
Responsible for tracking process capability and execution of the improvement action plan.
Analyzes KPI’s to develop and implement corrective actions to improve processes.
Hands on interaction with machinery and process with at least 50 percent of time spent on manufacturing floor.
What we look for
Required
Bachelors or higher in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of Engineering, Quality Engineering or Product Development experience in manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with Auto CAD, SolidWorks, Excel, Word, Power Point and other related programs.
Proficiency in PFMEA and equipment SOW/ functional specs.
Strong communication and organizational skills – ability to communicate across all levels within organization and considerable customer interaction.
Experience in driving Root Cause Analysis activities and actions.
Preferred
5 years or more of experience in automotive Tier-1.
Experience in Battery oxide manufacturing, battery plate manufacturing equipment, labeling, palletizing, material handling, and MES systems.
Six Sigma certification and training encouraged.
Our Toledo, Ohio fully integrated plant manufactures batteries used in automotive and marine applications. This is our largest plant at Clarios. We opened our facility in 1981 and now employ more than 700 people and operate six days per week. We are actively involved in our local community and give back through the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Cherry Street Mission, and Ronald McDonald House.
