We are currently seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer for Stamping Equipment Engineering Group. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will support planning and execution of processes and equipment to ensure efficient and reliable production to deliver world class products on time and cost effectively. Expertise specifically on High Speed Tandem Lines and Large Closure Blanking Systems. This specifically includes the Feasibility, Production Capacity Planning, Construction and supporting of logistical planning. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, Stamping will support cross-functional teams during the development and industrialization phases and drive sound business decisions throughout the product life cycle.
You Will:
- Be an expert of Stamping Equipment, including but not limited to Large Closure Blanking Lines, High Speed Tandem line, Presses, Automation, Material Handling and supporting Lucid Engineering / Manufacturing Group’s specific needs and requirements regarding Stamping
- Be the subject matter expert for either a Tandem Line incl. Automation and or Laser Blanking
- Evaluate and provide detailed evaluations of manufacturing production requirements, required design concepts of equipment and process flows to ensure quality and volumes will be produced
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Supports design specifications for RFQ’s
- Approve equipment and control designs in accordance to Lucid and local regulations and manages suppliers performance to build schedule
- Participates and perhaps leads the Machine standard documentation development
- Interact and direct vendors to provide equipment and tooling to our standards and performance expectations
- Launch equipment and tooling to production floor and support on-going production throughout program cycle
- Develop and maintains layouts for efficient product flow
- Project coordination, champions and supports Lucid Engineering / Manufacturing Group’s specific needs and requirements regarding the scope, specifications & best practice procedures
- Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors
- Manage internal Lucid Customers, assesses needs regarding priorities, deadlines, and quantities, driving suppliers for on time deliverables
- Track and manage equipment trials for SOP
- Work closely with multiple departments to improve manufacturing processes
- Travel 25-50% to visit suppliers (US and International)
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree, Mechanical Engineering major however Tool & Die Apprenticeship with experience is preferred
- 5+ years of Program Management/Engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is required
- Tandem, progressive, blanking, and transfer stamping preferred
- Extensive aluminum Class A, BIW and Closures experience with Tandem, progressive, blanking, and Hot Forming required
- Experience with foreign suppliers
- Must have the ability to travel internationally
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
- Working knowledge of current manufacturing techniques – Equipment, tooling, metal stamping, assembly and testing
- Working knowledge of production and quality control procedures used in a manufacturing environment
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Effective skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with a wide range of individuals from varying economic, social, and educational backgrounds in a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical, time management and analysis skills
- Must be capable of working with peers, subordinates, supervisors, and management on a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to remain current with state of the art technologies and practices related to the metal stamping process as well as develop Innovative solutions when necessary
- Able to use MS Office- Excel, Project, Word
