The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design and construction dams &amp; hydropower projects, especially large projects:<ul><li>Lead and manage the design team of about 20 staff in the design review and improvements in the tender designs of large CFRD over 200 M tall and other components (spillway, power house, tunnels etc) of 800 MW hydropower project.</li><li>Ensure all designs are in strict compliance with relevant engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements and issue IFC drawings.</li><li>Oversee the design review process and ensure timely delivery of high-quality design solutions that align with project goals.</li><li>Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integration and compatibility of various design components &amp; timely delivery to the contractor.</li><li>Review and approve design documents, reports, drawings, and technical specifications.</li><li>Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure clear communication and alignment of design objectives.</li><li>Support during construction stages for design clarification, technical support, and resolution of design-related issues.</li></ul>With a track record of achievement in a related role, you will have gained your experience in a consultancy environment and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change.Suitable applicants will have/be:<ul><li>Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an internationally recognized university/institution. Higher qualification will be preferable.</li><li>Minimum of 25 years of overall professional experience, with at least 20 years specifically in the design and construction of dams &amp; hydropower projects including about   10 to 15 years in CFRD design /construction. Proven track record of leadership in complex dam engineering projects, particularly within the hydropower sector.</li><li>Strong understanding of international standards and best practices in dam &amp; hydropower design and construction.</li><li>Excellent communication skills (English)</li></ul>SMEC is an equal opportunity employer.
