Research Scientist in Additive Manufacturing, Mechanics and Material Engineering – Krakow, Poland

For our research center in Krakow, Poland, we are seeking a Researcher with expertise in additive manufacturing technologies and their applications, preferably with a background in mechanical or materials engineering. You will join a dynamic, motivated, and creative team with a wide range of experience and competencies. As part of our team, you will blend theory with practice, creating, testing, and validating new technologies to facilitate the energy transition.

The research area you will focus on involves applying additive manufacturing to products and devices for energy distribution and transmission. Additionally, you will participate in projects that utilize material or mechanical engineering to enhance and optimize the designs of these products.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Propose, contribute to, and lead research and development projects focused on the application of additive manufacturing in energy systems products.
  • Collaborate globally with teams of researchers and engineers at Hitachi Energy to identify, analyze, and resolve real-world challenges in optimizing designs for next-generation products.
  • Stay updated on additive manufacturing, including the latest technologies and key suppliers. Identify opportunities to practically apply this knowledge in industrial contexts.
  • Actively share your expertise within the company and beyond.
  • Collaborate with local and global external partners, such as universities, startups, and vendors.
  • Share your findings through technical reports, scientific publications, research conferences, and patent applications.

Your background

  • Master’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Material Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong fundamentals in manufacturing technologies, mechanics, or materials engineering.
  • Working experience (2+ years) with manufacturing technologies and additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Skills and experience in CAD and CAE are highly appreciated.
  • A willingness to adopt an interdisciplinary approach and acquire new knowledge while collaborating with experts from various fields.   
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

In addition, the following skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Knowledge about power network business, green energy, respective requirements, and industry standards.
