Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design and development of weight efficient automotive BIW Structural parts and assemblies to deliver the highest level of performance in NVH, Durability and Crashworthiness performance from a blank page into production with experience developing body assemblies
- Design with excellence at system and component level with great attention to every detail creating optimized for performance, size, weight, durability and cost
- Perform detailed analysis of section properties, materials and manufacturing processes through benchmarking activities to understand competitiveness of designs
- Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for your designs
- Determine required tolerances using GD&T
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of expertise in automotive Body Structures systems and sub-systems at OEM or supplier desired
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes applicable for body structures such as castings, extrusions, cold and hot form stampings, their advantages, and limitations
- Solid track record of successful system level integration
- Proven 3D CAD skills, proficient with CATIA V5/V6 or similar software
- Hands-on practical experience in prototype assembly and production assembly with the willingness to assemble your own parts
- Detail oriented personality with a determined problem-solving attitude using an Engineering first principles approach
- A strong understanding of various analysis tools such as ANSYS, OptiStruct, MatLab, ADAMS, etc.
- Proof of excellence in your past position, while demonstrating profound creativity in resolving mechanical design problems
- Experience in full life cycle development from concept to prototype to full production
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of steel and aluminum components and joining practices
- Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, Shannin RedX or other equivalent problem-solving methodology.
- Experience with Dimensional Variation Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from ABET accredited institution or equivalent body structures automotive experience
