About the Job
As the Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
- Lead regulatory strategy for new products: Develop and implement regulatory compliance strategies for new product launches, ensuring adherence to global safety, environmental, and industry-specific standards (e.g., UL, CE, etc.)
- Integrate compliance into product development: Collaborate with product development and engineering teams from the early design phase to ensure that compliance and certification requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle
- Certification and testing management: Oversee testing, certification, and documentation processes for new products in coordination with third-party labs and regulatory bodies
- Product launch support: Ensure all new products meet certification requirements prior to launch by managing the submission of regulatory filings and coordinating with testing agencies
- Regulatory research: Monitor and interpret changes in global regulatory environments and provide proactive guidance to teams on new product implications
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with marketing, legal, and business units to ensure regulatory compliance is integrated into product strategy, marketing claims, and global go-to-market plans
- Process development: Create and maintain robust internal processes for ensuring compliance in product design and development, including regulatory risk assessments and documentation reviews
- Team leadership: Lead and mentor a team of certification and compliance specialists, driving continuous improvement and professional development
- Compliance documentation: Manage the creation and maintenance of technical files, user manuals, and other necessary documentation to meet certification and regulatory standards
What you will bring to Fluence:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Management, or related field. Advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience in product certification, regulatory compliance, or quality assurance, with a focus on new product development in a manufacturing or technology company
- Strong knowledge of global product safety and certification standards, including CE, UL, RoHS, REACH, etc.
- Proven experience leading compliance efforts for new product launches across multiple international markets
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable steps for product teams
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple new product certifications simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills to clearly convey regulatory requirements to cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams
Preferred Experience:
- Working directly with software or hardware products, especially related to regulatory submissions
- Familiarity with energy storage products and standards
- Proficiency with compliance and certification management tools
