About the Job
At Heart Aerospace we are developing the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade. Our headquarters is based in Gothenburg, Sweden and we are now opening up a R&D hub in Los Angeles, which will focus on the advancement of Heart’s hybrid-electric propulsion system and other key technologies.
Your mission
We are seeking a hands-on Harness Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role combines electrical and mechanical design with prototype fabrication responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking a harness from concept to reality—selecting components, designing schematics and mechanical layouts, and building working prototypes for testing and integration into test setups and prototype aircraft.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design wiring harnesses for electromechanical systems, including schematic creation and 2D/3D routing layouts.
- Select appropriate wires, connectors, terminals, fuses, backshells, and other harness components
- Create detailed harness drawings and documentation (BOMs, pinouts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules).
- Fabricate, assemble, and install prototype harnesses for development and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, software and systems engineers.
- Iterate designs based on test results, field feedback, or evolving requirements.
- Perform electrical and mechanical validation of harnesses (continuity, resistance, insulation, fitment, etc.).
- Manage fast prototype workshop with critical tools, wires, connectors, etc.
- Support transition from prototype to production, working with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in wiring harness design and fabrication.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, mechanical layout, and harness routing principles.
- Proficiency with ECAD tools such as Zuken, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, Altium, or equivalent.
- Proficiency with MCAD tools such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, CATIA or equivalent.
- Hands-on skills in wire crimping, soldering, and harness assembly.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment (multimeters, continuity testers, etc).
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and working with contract manufacturers is a plus.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
- Working knowledge of wire harnessing standards in aerospace application (Mil standards, AS50881, DO-160, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and etc..)
- Experience with 3D harness routing in CAD assemblies.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC best practices in cabling.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
