Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Senior Payroll and Tax Specialist is to process payroll in an ACCURATE & timely manner. This individual’s focus will be on DG Payrolls, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. This is a highly visible position that provides service to the entire employee population. The impact is significant in achieving important business objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Processing Payroll alongside Payroll team.
- Employee support – Respond to and resolve employee inquiries effectively and efficiently.
- Responsible for managing payroll tax returns for all Pattern Entities. This includes managing the quarter filings, downloading from HCM System, reviewing and reconciling filings, analyzing and resolving variances, and investigating and responding to agency notices.
- Monitor and interpret changes to tax and employment regulations. At direction of Senior Payroll Manager, ensure Pattern is following new and existing regulations.
- Supporting other dept sub-units as well as Accounting, Tax, and Senior Management
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
- 5+ years working in Payroll/HR/Benefits/Tax in various industries with multi-state experience.
- BS/BA Degree in relevant course of study or relevant work experience.
- Member of Payroll.Org (American Payroll Association) as well as the local chapter.
- Certificates and coursework of continuing education in payroll and tax related education.
- Recent ADP Work Force Now experience
- Experience with payroll tax preparation, review and reconciliation with agency notice resolution.
- Very detailed oriented and organized with robust analytical skills as evidenced in previous work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
- Excel skills including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
