Location: Mexico City, Mexico

Reporting: Manager, Structural Engineering

Work Type: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote

Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (C1/C2 level required)

About the Role

Nextracker is seeking a Structural Engineer I to join our Project Engineering Team in Mexico City, Mexico, supporting key accounts across the U.S. This position will be responsible for managing day-to-day structural engineering tasks for utility-scale PV projects from the development phase through construction.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, wind load calculations, steel design and component sizing, foundation sizing, and the preparation of structural documentation to support project quoting and engineering packages. The role will involve close coordination with cross-functional teams in the U.S., India, and other global offices including Sales, Project Management, and R&D.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce civil and structural design documentation, including drawings and calculations.
  • Support the project development phase by reviewing site information, performing calculations, and contributing to cost estimations.
  • Perform structural analyses for wind, seismic, and foundation loads, and prepare corresponding calculations and reports; sign/seal documents if required.
  • Provide construction phase support by responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Nextracker products to support engineering decisions.
  • Collaborate with structural/civil engineers across regions to maintain and update standards, specifications, templates, and design tools.
  • Manage schedules and review deliverables from structural and civil engineering consultants.
  • Support the ongoing development and expansion of Nextracker’s Design Services team.

Required Skills/ Expertise:

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, and other applicable state and federal guidelines, including but not limited to IBC, ASCE, ASTM, AISC, and ACI.
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis software (RISA, STAAD, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in advanced modal and dynamic analysis
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in the solar EPC industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in structural design, including dead, live, snow, wind, and seismic loads, as well as steel structure design and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), AutoCAD, LPILE/AllPile, and other structural analysis tools.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for renewable energy and solar power is a plus.
  • Fluent English is required to communicate effectively with clients, manage international projects, and produce high-quality technical documentation.
