Job Description:

The Senior Civil Designer, Project Engineering, will be based in our Manly office in Sydney. In this position, you will report to the Director, Engineering Services. Working directly with our Sales, Project Engineering and Operations team throughout Australia to manage day to day issues on utility scale PV projects from the development stage to construction support. The position will manage all decisions relating to Civil Engineering for Nextracker’s projects including but not limited to: topographical and slope analysis, earthworks calculations and optimizations, surface and position coordinate manipulation, evaluation of solar tracker structure and installation tolerations in relation to design surfaces as well as various engineering tasks and decisions to support project quoting and calculation packages.  Join a dynamic team in designing and delivering utility-scale solar projects, contributing to the growth and success of our civil engineering department. Here is a glimpse of what you will do:

• Assist in project development phase; review pertinent site information and provide preliminary civil advice 
• Undertake civil analysis including topographical, earthworks, positional coordinate and surface manipulation and adjustment.
• Produce civil documentation, drawings and plans, and calculations.
• Provide construction support by responding to RFIs and submittals.
• Coordinate with Nextracker’s Project Engineering team in other regions to create and update civil standards, specifications, templates, and design tools.
• Manage, schedule and review civil engineering calculations prepared by third party engineering consultants.
• Attend internal and external meetings and respond to questions relating to civil engineering
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and specifications.
• Uphold ethical standards and compliance with regulations in all business activities.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with 5+ years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in the solar or renewable energy field.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in topographical and civil calculations including earthworks analysis and topographical surface and coordinate point manipulation.
• Knowledge of relevant Australian regulations and standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Detail-oriented with strong planning, process, and project management abilities.
• Self-motivated with a commitment to technical excellence and long-term success.

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

• Solar or renewable energy industry experience
• Coding experience related to civil analysis tools, specifically Python.
• Experience with mapping/GIS tools
• Exposure to Geotechnical investigation requirements.
• Understanding of structural foundation design concepts.
