WRI India, an independent charity legally registered as the India Resources Trust, provides objective information and practical proposals to foster environmentally sound and socially equitable development. Climate, Economics & Finance (CEF) Program at WRI India

The Climate, Economics, and Finance (CEF) Program leverages cutting-edge analysis, innovative tools, and real-world implementation to inform India’s low-carbon transition—one that is technologically viable, economically feasible, socially inclusive, and nature-positive.

About the Role

As Program Manager – Economics of Climate and Green Growth, you will play a pivotal role in analysing economic pathways that can drive India's just, inclusive, and sustainable transition to Net Zero. We are looking for a critical thinker and problem-solver, passionate about leveraging quantitative methods and economic analyses to inform the future of people-centred climate action in India.

How your day will unfold:

Solve Complex Problems: Develop new approaches and deploy economic methods to inform policies for low-carbon development pathways at national or subnational levels. Lead economic and policy analysis, and develop sectoral roadmaps and strategies.
Lead High-Impact Research: Drive data-driven insights based on rigorous research that can inform policies, business strategies, and interventions. Lead scenario development, sensitivity analysis, and economic assessments of low-carbon pathways. Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in data collection, model calibration, and policy impact assessments.
Mentor & Lead teams: Guide a team of bright, aspiring researchers and foster technical excellence and critical thinking.
Translate Research into Action: Produce publications, articles and blogs that translate complex research into clear insights and recommendations.
Engage with Stakeholders: Collaborate with policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to strengthen partnerships and scale impact.

What We’re Looking For

7-10 years of experience in energy-economy modelling, climate policy, economic analysis and research.
Advanced proficiency in modelling tools such as R, Python, STATA, GAMS, Vensim, or GIS software is desirable
Proven track record of leading policy-driven research publications and high-impact collaborations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to convey insights to diverse audiences.
Experience in team management, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

Salary & Benefits: INR 18,00,000- INR 24,00,000

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Location: New Delhi / Bengaluru / Mumbai
Duration: 1 year (extendable based on performance & project needs)
