POSITION – Union: Corrosion Technician<div>NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1LOCATION: CT - East Hartford - Meadow StHOURLY RATE: $44.02 - $51.71Responsibilities:<ul><li>Responsible to not only work safely, but to promote a safe work ethic and behavior. </li><li>Responsible to perform and interpret required readings (i.e. annual test points, isolated services, casings, bonds, foreign crossings) in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures. </li><li>Responsible for timely cathodic protection troubleshooting (i.e. low systems, shorted conditions)</li><li>Responsible for timely creation of remediation work orders (i.e. install anodes, clear short, install insulator, repair / replace test station). Follows through with necessary departments to ensure timely completion.</li><li>Works closely with peers from other utilities to maintain CP at franchise gate stations.</li><li>Responsible for performance of QA checks on reads performed by others</li><li>Responsible for troubleshooting and maintenance of rectiﬁers</li><li>Responsible for maintenance of tools and equipment.</li><li>Responsible for atmospheric inspections for bridge crossings, above ground piping that is dept. responsibility, or other exposed piping a needed in accordance with procedures.</li><li>Understands use of unique equipment and tools used purposely for Cathodic Protection measures. </li><li>Provides corrosion control-related support to other Departments as needed for maintenance / repair. </li><li>Participates as needed in regulatory audits to ensure success.</li><li>Transmission and / or High-Pressure Distribution gas mains: </li><li>Performs annual CIS of scheduled piping.</li><li>Works with Engineering on annual testing of scheduled HCA piping. </li><li>Works with R.O.W. crews with follow up investigations or maintenance.</li><li>Works closely with peers from other utilities to maintain CP at franchise gate stations.</li><li>Responds to arcing or stray voltage conditions on gas lines.</li><li>Assist with troubleshooting responsibilities as required by Corrosion control Supervisor.</li></ul>Skills and Requirements:Education:<ul><li>High School/GED with the completion of the relevant progression program and 2 years relevant experience required.</li><li>Valid driver’s license</li><li>NACE CP1 (Cathodic Protection Tester) or greater. </li></ul>Related Work Experience:<ul><li>Past experience with use of hand tools</li><li>Gas Pipeline experience</li><li>Troubleshooting experience</li><li>2 years ﬁeld work of pipeline cathodic protection / corrosion control</li><li>Successful completion of all current Operational Qualiﬁcations.</li></ul>Required Speciﬁc Skills &amp; Knowledge:<ul><li>Troubleshooting skills</li><li>Ability to read Infrastructure mapping and/or electric schematics</li><li>Mathematics aptitude </li><li>Proﬁcient in use of Company computer systems</li><li>Knowledge and concepts of Electrical Theory</li><li>Customer service skills</li><li>Attention to detail</li><li>Problem solving skills </li><li>CP design skills </li><li>Ability to interpret engineer designs.</li><li>Understands the concepts of rectiﬁers and ground bed replacement.</li></ul>Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:<ul><li>Frequent local travel with occasional out of town requirements.</li><li>Must possess a valid driver’s license</li><li>Work Environment:</li><li>The ability to work in both oﬃce and ﬁeld environments.
