About the Job

Location:

Remote and/or hybrid applicants will be considered, though it is preferred to be within the same time zone for collaboration purposes.

About the Role

As Product Manager (Hardware & Software), you will lead the strategic development of BoxPower’s EASI platform—our proprietary tool for microgrid design, optimization, and configuration. You’ll
be responsible for evolving EASI into both a robust internal design engine and a customer-facing interface for modular microgrid deployments. This role requires close collaboration with software developers, hardware engineers, and prospective customers to manage the EASI product roadmap. You will ensure accurate, real-time integration of hardware components and kits within the EASI environment and collaborate with business development to align product strategy with BoxPower’s broader growth objectives.
This role may require up to 25% travel, with additional travel as needed based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Product Management – EASI Software

  • Own and define the product roadmap for the EASI microgrid design & optimization software.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to define and prioritize feature development, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Lead user research efforts to gather insights from project developers, EPCs, and internal stakeholders to improve EASI user experience.
  • Define clear product requirements, use cases, and technical specifications for software enhancements.
  • Work closely with UX/UI designers to optimize workflows and improve usability.
  • Drive go-to-market strategies for new EASI features, including customer onboarding, training, and documentation.

Hardware Integration & KITs Management

  • Work closely with hardware engineers and product teams to ensure accurate technical specifications for product components (solar, battery, inverters, etc.) are integrated into EASI.
  • Ensure seamless data interoperability between EASI and BoxPower’s hardware solutions.
  • Develop and maintain product documentation, technical datasheets, and data models that support hardware-software integration.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to reflect real-time product availability and pricing in EASI.
  • Monitor and implement updates to EASI based on changes in product specifications, certifications, or availability (e.g., UL listings, inverter firmware, battery specs).

Business Development

  • Partner with sales and marketing to define go-to-market strategies for products, ensuring alignment with customer needs and BoxPower’s growth objectives
  • Coordinate with marketing to develop launch plans, including messaging, demos, and promotional materials that highlight market specific value propositions.
  • Work with sales to provide technical and product insights for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring accurate representation of capabilities and hardware integration in customer bids.
  • Act as a conduit between customers, sales, and product teams to collect insights on market trends, competitive offerings, and customer pain points, informing future roadmap priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems), Computer Science,
Physics, Business Administration, Marketing, or Design; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

  • At least 3-7 years of product management experience, preferably in B2B SaaS, energy, or hardware-software integration.

  • Strong technical understanding of microgrid systems, renewable energy technologies, or power electronics.

  • Experience working with software development teams (familiarity with Agile methodologies, Jira, Figma, etc.).

  • Proven ability to define and execute a product roadmap, balancing short-term priorities with long-term vision.

  • Strong data analysis skills; ability to use metrics to guide decision-making.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • An advanced degree (e.g., MS, MBA) is a plus, particularly with a focus on energy systems, product development, or software engineering.
  • Product management specific coursework/certifications.
  • Experience using or managing product design or modeling platforms (e.g., HOMER Pro, PVsyst, Helioscope).
  • Familiarity with APIs, data modeling, or system configuration tools used in SaaS or hardware integration
  • Background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-growing company where you’ve had to wear multiple hats.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as ClickUp, Asana, or equivalent.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Health Coverage: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees.
  • Time Off: Flexible, unlimited PTO policy that promotes work-life balance.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan, managed through Human Interest.
