Job Description

 Albemarle is hiring for an Operations Superintendent. This position is located on site at Kemerton.  

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for Operations and staffing to reach production targets in area of responsibility.

  • Oversee and coordinate the execution of maintenance activities to minimise unscheduled downtime.

  • Ensure compliance to operating standards and execute the role of a critical risk control owner.

  • Be a visible safety leader. Facilitate the investigation of both safety and Operations related events to identify the root cause and implement measures to reduce any future impacts. Maintain a high operating discipline to ensure investigations and actions are closed in a timely manner.

  • Set measurable key performance indicators for direct reports and review quarterly to ensure objectives are tracking as required, if not, improvement plans are implemented.

  • Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports to deliver on plan and build a high performing team that is safety oriented.

  • Identify opportunities to coach and reward individuals to develop an inclusive culture that values and encourages diversity of thought and promotes team over individual.

  • Set expectations, provide feedback, and hold people accountable for their actions and responsibilities in meeting those expectations.

  • Development of team members to optimize skillsets and establish succession planning for key roles.

  • Responsible to ensure all team members are trained and competent to carry out their duties

  • Identify and remove barriers to ensure business procedures and systems function as designed.

  • Work with finance business partner to ensure department expenditure is aligned to budget.

  • Work with business support functions to prepare your team for commissioning, start-up, and ongoing operation of Albemarle’s new facility in Kemerton.

  • Endorse and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Bring

Required:

  • 10 or more years’ experience in a similar position in an industrial (processing) environment.

  • 10 or more years of proven leadership experience including coaching, mentoring and managing a high-performance teams.

  • A demonstrated ability to build and lead a diverse team to develop a safe, inclusive work environment that delivers reliable, cost optimised production.

  • Demonstrated ability managing multiple conflicting priorities and strong decision-making skills while maintaining key stakeholder interests and relationships.

  • Collaborative relationship building and negotiation skills.

  • A demonstrated ability to identify strengths and weaknesses in team members delegate work appropriately to build capability and achieve outcomes.

  • A working knowledge of continuous improvement and risk management framework.

  • A working knowledge of operational budget development and management.

Preferred:

  • Tertiary qualification in Maintenance/ Engineering or similar would be advantageous.

  • Cert IV in Frontline Leadership or similar.
