How you’ll make an impact
- You will lead solutions / architecture activities for the JIEMS project and manage the alignment of solutions both internally between Hitachi Energy PSO units and Product Management / Development; and between the Hitachi Energy project organization and the customer (SIBU /TDIOS).
- Maintaining an end-to-end, documented Master Architecture of the project solutions to be delivered and consult with internal and customer stakeholders and facilitate connections and communications between relevant experts internally and with customer and end-client. This necessitates a strong ability to understand who our key experts are, create solid relationships with them and be able to know which person is the right person for customer / end-client to interact with.
- Champion the quality and integrity of Network Controle solutions, ensuring project deliveries are aligned with approved strategies, engineering and roadmaps.
- Maintain a sound working knowledge of best practice, technological developments and key issues in the Network Control solution line domains and ensure that the outputs and activities of the project technical teams are professional, delivered to a high quality and aligned with best practice.
- Engage with stakeholders, including customers, local, hub and global product group team members, and project managers to identify and manage technical dependencies. Provision of technical advice and problem solving to resolve solution or design issues arising during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that projects follow engineering best practices, Hitachi Energy policies and relevant international standards. Provide engineering / architectural technical input into progress reports, project updates, project reviews and productivity data on a regular basis.
- Conduct analysis on technical feasibility of project plans and schedules. Identify, qualify, quantify and manage technical / architectural / engineering risks, ensure that technical /architectural / engineering opportunities are identified and pursued.
- Capture, analyze and share technical / engineering / architecture lessons learned throughout projects and service and support activities.
- Over time it is envisaged this role will directly supervise Japan-based Network Control technical resources:
- Sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results.
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and training to technical team members. Comply with policies, practices, and procedures regarding the project architecture, technical tasks, customers, and stakeholders.

Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Power Systems Engineering or similar or 15 years career experience in related fields.
- Minimum 15 years of systems engineering / architecture related experience in the implementation and maintenance of complex software and or engineering projects.
- Deeply familiar with Network Control solution lines system architecture – specifically Network Manager MMS, Network Manager EMS/SCADA.
- Experience with SQL based RDBMS databases.
- Coding experience in languages such as C++, Python, PERL etc.
- Excellent operating system skills, including Windows Server, Windows desktops, and Linux / Unix flavors.
- Proficiency with server hardware, virtualization, and networking.
- Experience with Factory and Site Acceptance Testing and integrating complex software systems.
- Experience within asset-intensive industries; specifically, utilities, transportation, and public infrastructure preferable.
- Demonstrable outstanding mentoring skills and experience for direct reports and to support peers and colleagues to achieve targeted results.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability and confidence to develop and present to senior audiences.
