About the Job

The Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) is responsible for ensuring that all welding activities and finished welds meet applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements. The CWI conducts inspections, reviews welding procedures, oversees welder qualifications, and documents compliance throughout the fabrication or construction process.Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Performs visual inspections of welds and weld joints in accordance with Harsco requirements and specifications and/or AWS/EN standards and/or other relevant codes. 

  • Reviews and approve welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder performance qualifications (WPQ). 

  • Monitors welding activities to ensure adherence to approved procedures and safety regulations. 

  • Identifies welding defects and recommend corrective actions. 

  • Maintains detailed inspection records and prepare inspection reports for internal and customer use. 

  • Coordinates with production, quality, and engineering teams to address welding issues. 

  • Verifies material traceability and ensure that only approved materials are used in fabrication. 

  • Participates in customer and third-party audits or inspections as required. 

  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives in welding quality and process efficiency. 

  • Ensures calibration and proper use of inspection tools such as gauges, micrometers, and NDT equipment.
