We are looking for an Equipment Engineer responsible for the planning, design, development, installation, and maintenance of various types of equipment used in diamond wafer manufacturing, production, or research and development processes. This role involves ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of equipment to meet operational requirements and industry standards. Equipment Engineers often collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and maintenance, to optimize equipment performance. This position is based in Fremont, CA with occasional travel to South San Francisco and other Diamond Foundry locations.

Responsibilities

Safety Compliance: Ensuring that equipment meets safety standards and regulations, and implementing measures to mitigate potential hazards. This includes conducting risk assessments, providing training to operators, and maintaining documentation of safety procedures.
Equipment Selection and Procurement: Choosing the appropriate equipment for diamond wafer manufacturing, production, or research and development processes. This involves researching available options, evaluating specifications, and coordinating with vendors or suppliers for procurement.
Installation and Commissioning: Overseeing the installation of new equipment, ensuring it is properly set up, calibrated, and integrated into existing systems. This may involve working with the DF Facilities team, contractors to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing equipment malfunctions and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
Project Management: Managing projects related to equipment upgrades, expansions, or replacements. This involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, setting timelines and budgets, and ensuring project goals are achieved on schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. (Preferred: experience in semiconductor, thin film solar cell, or hard disk industries.)
2+ years of direct experience in a manufacturing environment. (Preferred: familiarity with precision laser tools, cleaning equipment, high-temperature furnaces, and plasma processing equipment.)
Experience ensuring compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and company specifications. (Preferred: experience with PLC systems and troubleshooting.)
Experience installing and commissioning manufacturing equipment, and writing SOPs, performance reports, maintenance activities, and improvement initiatives.
Comfortable with hands-on work in manufacturing environments. (Preferred: experience with 3D CAD systems like SolidWorks and PLM systems.)

Manufacturing and Engineering Departments Physical Requirements:

-Use appropriate PPE and follow all safety policies, practices, and procedures.

-This position will often: Sit, stand for long periods, walk, grasp, reach with hands and arms, lift below and above shoulders, bend, twist at the waist, climb, balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, talk, hear, see, use fine finger manipulation, and complete repetitive motions.

-Some tasks may require the use of ladders or stairs

-Some tasks may require driving or the use of foot controls

-Lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pound
