Job Description

X-energy is seeking experienced professionals to join our Corporate Development team in the role of Associate IV, Strategic Operations. This role will be responsible for working side-by-side with our leadership and delivery teams for our first-of-a-kind Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project to identify and accelerate sources of value and schedule acceleration, remove roadblocks for engineering and business teams, problem-solve the toughest cross-disciplinary challenges, and bring a business and value-focused lens to our execution. This position will play a critical role in helping our teams execute at the highest level and liaising with our business leadership to translate “on the ground” realities into our business context to help identify and drive solutions. The role will help handle the planning, communication, and business analysis that supports complex, long-term SMR commercialization efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-discipline (and typically technical) teams to drive problem-solving and help surface solutions and execution plans to improve cost, schedule, and/or technical or commercial viability of a solution.
• Monitor day-to-day execution of our teams with a focus on improving accountability to schedules and goals.
• Work closely with business leads, engineering teams, finance, and project controls to manage cross-functional projects — tracking milestones, managing priorities, and ensuring clarity around goals.
• Prepare briefing materials, memos, decks, and decision-support tools for internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, investors, and government partners.
• Project and track financial spending across programs; collaborate with finance to align forecasts with actuals.
• Coordinate and prepare for critical meetings — technical reviews, stakeholder check-ins, design gates — ensuring the right people are prepared and aligned and decisions are well-informed.
• Translate technical progress into clear business narratives and reports.
• Be the liaison between engineering, operations, finance, and leadership — identifying what needs to happen and making it happen.
• Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
• Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
• Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.
• Shares knowledge related to industry best practices and standards with others across the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
• Typically, ten years of general work experience. In lieu of ten years of experience, an MBA and pre-MBA work experience in management consulting, product management, or strategy roles.
• Advanced project management skills.
• Experience managing complex projects or programs with multiple stakeholders, possibly including strategy execution teams, business transformations, program management offices, turnarounds, etc.
• Experience writing one-pager or executive level presentation slide decks.
• Experience communicating with executive leaders.

X-energy is delivering the next generation of carbon-free energy by reinventing nuclear power. We believe in leaving a cleaner planet for our children and grandchildren, while continuing to provide sufficient and affordable power to sustain growing populations around the world. That is why we have reinvented nuclear power, with a unique combination of proven technologies and new innovations, to meet our current and future needs. X-energy manufactures fuel that seals uranium particles in a protective coating, which makes meltdown impossible and retains the waste inside forever. We also design plants that unlock the fuel’s potential in a process that’s as clean as wind or solar. When combined, the result is reliable carbon-free baseload power, produced more safely and affordable than ever before and available anywhere, at any time.
