Supervisor Plant Maintenance
Pelton Round Butte Project, Madras, OR
In this role, you'll maintain and oversee the replacement, installation and maintenance of hydroelectrical generation plant equipment and structures; identifying, analyzing and implementing predictive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities of this position include:
Plant Maintenance:
- Supervises team responsible for maintaining power plant electrical, and mechanical equipment in safe, efficient and economical working condition;
- Provides daily supervision of team, ensures that all relevant standards/procedures and regulations (environmental and safety) are followed; responsible for the safe execution of work.
Maintenance Program Management:
- Supervises day-to-day maintenance activities; ensures that corrective maintenance, scheduled preventive maintenance and plant modifications are completed in a safe, efficient and effective manner; Ensures plant equipment and systems function at the highest level of performance; ensures that all applicable federal, state and PGE policies, standards and regulations are met; ensures that plant staff have all applicable required certifications.
Procurement:
- Ensures that materials and services are obtained timely and cost-effectively; may oversee procurement and warehousing of spare parts for the plant; Ensures that all materials procurement practices comply with PGE SOX guidelines.
Emergency Planning/Response:
Leads and/or participates in periodic staff training in carrying out emergency response plans; ensures that proper immediate actions and notifications are completed in response to plant emergencies and abnormal occurrences.
Safety Leadership:
Promotes safety, trains team members and monitors safety practices. Looks for ways to improve safe work practices and safety training.
Financial Management:
Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met, and examines any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan.
Resourcing: Implements resourcing decisions and planning for team; partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes.
Professional Development:
Maintains knowledge of skill development tools/resources; advises on required outcomes for learning or development from knowledge of available tools and organizational development needs; assists employees in creating development plans and monitors progress.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience: Prefer five or more years in technical, field or industrial production or a related field. Prefer previous experience managing bargaining employees. Prefer previous power generation experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical maintenance procedures
- Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical control systems and equipment
- Intermediate knowledge of policies, procedures and practices for maintaining an electric generating plant
- Working knowledge of FERC, NERC, EPA, OSHA, DEQ and DOE requirements and regulations
- Intermediate knowledge of the electric utility industry and technology
- Intermediate knowledge of applicable union contracts and local work rules
- Intermediate skill in using maintenance management software
- Advanced skill in root cause troubleshooting and analyzing test or performance data to assess equipment operation
- Intermediate skills in computer systems.

Physical Capabilities:
- Must have a valid driver's license and a history of safe driving practices.
- Daily driving/travel/commuting
- Occasional overnight travel
- Computer use (use computer regularly for entire work shift)
- Lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying: Up to 10 lbs.
- Unstable surfaces requiring balance:
- Elevated areas (i.e., catwalks, roofs and high buildings)
- Confined spaces
- Walking distances and surfaces (long distances and over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces)
- Stairs (over 10 steps)
- Ladders (over 10 rungs)
Environment: Office, Plant, Field
Compensation Range:
$107,025.00 - $178,375.00Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
