A day in the life

Our Real Estate Accounting team is responsible for the external reporting of our reporting portfolios (operating, development, land and energy) and capital deployment activities for Prologis, a large multi-billion dollar global Real Estate Investment Trust listed on the S&P 500.  As an Accountant on the Real Estate Accounting team, you will be responsible for development and land project tracking within our systems, reporting of capital deployment activities and account / job cost reconciliations.  In addition, this role may be involved with other areas of real estate accounting, such as capitalized interest and ad-hoc projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and analyze financial information and supporting schedules, including our capital deployment activities, for both internal and external reporting in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Prepare account reconciliations for real estate accounts to assess validity, correctness and appropriateness of balances; preparing adjusting entries when required
  • Reconcile and review our job costing module activity and reconcile with general ledger
  • Updating our land tracking module for site changes and other activities
  • Review of capital expenditure activity under our established internal policies and procedures
  • Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of current forecasted investment (CFI) of our development projects
  • Act as a liaison between accounting and development / deployment teams to assist with tracking and reporting needs of the teams
  • Update tracking information of our development projects
  • Review stabilized development reviews of our building development projects
  • Involvement in our capital expenditure help desk and transfer cost process
  • Understand capitalization and other policies to enter journal entries into PeopleSoft in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Provide recommendations for improving current practices
  • Other duties and special projects, as assigned

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required from four-year college or university
  • 1+ years general accounting experience
  • Demonstrate strong analytic and organizational skills in completing both routine and complex tasks
  • Understanding of systems and technology that includes proficiency with Excel and aptitude of learning general ledger systems and financial reporting tools. Experience with PeopleSoft and SIGMA preferred. 
  • Have a strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner. Use feedback and reflection to own self-development
  • Self-starter who displays a strong sense of personal accountability to identify and work within required reporting timelines.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the functional and cultural lines of a fast-paced, multinational company
  • Process improvement, organizational and project management skills
  • High level of detail orientation and accuracy
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP

Hiring Salary Range of: $68,000 - $84,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
