We are currently seeking a skilled ADAS/AD features simulation engineer responsible for executing virtual simulations for system validation. This position requires a professional with experience in simulations in ADAS/AD.

 

As the successful candidate, you will join a world-class Autonomous Driving/ADAS validation team to drive delivery of simulation aspect of features validation. Candidates should be excellent managers and technical experts who can strategize tools, methods & processes for ADAS/AD simulation as well as execute with a team of engineers on timely delivery of results. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude, approaches his or her work with vigor and determination, and have demonstrated ability to learn quickly & work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

Your Role:

  • Manage & Lead team of ADAS/AD simulation engineers in executing simulation reports of inhouse and supplier provided L2+/L3 ADAS/AD features such as ACC, Highway Assist, Hands Free HWA, Lane Change Assist, Highway Pilot, Urban Pilot, AEB, LDP, Cross Traffic Protection, Automated Parking etc.
  • Evaluate industry standard simulation tools, evaluate inhouse developed tools as well as develop necessary scripts and methods to establish simulation toolchain for ADAS validation using simulation. Trace the simulation test cases to function/performance requirements as well as requirements for confirming SOTIF.
  • Create and update the virtual model & simulation setup for various use cases (scenario based, SIL, HIL, Vehicle-In-Loop, on HPC or cloud, open or closed loop), develop sufficiently accurate models quickly for various use cases. Correlate virtual modeling results with actual vehicle test data as necessary and appropriate for different fidelity models.
  • Collaborate various teams within Lucid such as ADAS software development (motion planning, perception etc.), vehicle chassis, powertrain, infotainment, ECU virtualization, plant modeling, digital twin teams etc. for developing models and executing ADAS/AD simulation
  • Create & execute scenarios for ADAS/AD features validation, as well as software component validation such as motion planning or perception confirmation. Perform virtual validation, post-process results, generate report, discuss & present results to ADAS leadership for drawing appropriate conclusions.
  • Be responsible for developing necessary pre & post-processing scripts, selection of scenarios, mapping of virtual validation cases with feature requirements while ensuring appropriate model fidelity.
  • Work with tolls, data and engineering services suppliers as necessary and represent Lucid ADAS simulation team.
  • Explore new technologies, industry trends and approaches (AI, synthetic data generation etc.) for ADAS/AD simulation & validation to improve execution.

Expectations:

  • More than 8 years of automotive simulation experience with at least 6 years of experience in developing and executing virtual validation for ADAS/AD features on high performance computers or cloud
  • Expert of few of the ADAS virtual simulation tools & methods – IPG CarMaker, Applied Intuition, CARLA, CarSim, Ansys, Simens, SUMO, RoadRunner or other such tools; HiL experience (dSpace/National Instruments etc.)
  • Experience in developing models from scratch, model correlation and executing scenarios; Understanding of Open Scenario format and hand on with tools for generating scenarios
  • Strong understanding of ADAS/AD automotive features for mass production
  • Working experience at automotive Tier 1/2 suppliers or OEMs in ADAS/AD virtual simulations, with a good command over automotive processes and workflows
  • Programming skills related to simulation automation, results post-processing etc. (e.g. Python, C/C++, MatLab/Simulink)
  • Capability and creativity to successfully complete projects with unconventional ideas in highly constrained, innovative startup environments
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) & ownership mindset

Advantageous:

  • Good understanding of SOTIF & coverage, ISO 26262 & FuSA processes, and regulatory scenarios such as NCAP, GSR, R79 etc.
  • Broad understanding of various other automotive mechanical, electrical & software components (Chassis, powertrain etc.) that make ADAS system work
  • Experience with Vector tools: CANoe, CANape and CAPL
  • Proficiency with agile development tools and environments (Jira, Jama, …)

Requirements:

  • BS minimum in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar and 10 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry

OR

  • MS minimum in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar and 8 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
