About the role

This is a great opportunity to join Cero Generation’s Procurement and Project Delivery (PPD) Team as a Technical Delivery Manager (BESS) to help support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. The PPD team is responsible for the commercialisation of ‘Ready to Build’ projects including bringing projects to Financial Close and into construction.

Cero is looking to make a key addition to the PPD Team and is seeking to appoint a Technical Delivery Manager (BESS) with responsibility for supporting on commercial engineering of BESS projects across Cero’s markets. The role will be based in Cero’s head office in London with travel requirements to all Cero’s markets as required.

Main accountabilities

Work within a project environment with various Cero teams to commercialise storage and co-located projects by supporting on the technical delivery workstreams required to take a project from RTB to FC.

Work closely with the Project Development team to ensure that projects all Transaction Ready deliverables are in place to enable delivery process

Support the Project Development team providing guidance on BESS specifications, layout design parameters, constraints such as noise and fire suppression strategies and other technical inputs

Supporting procurement function in onboarding of new suppliers and technologies and maintaining BESS product portfolio whitelist

Manage and coordinate external technical advisors acting both on Sponsor and Lender's side for BESS contracts

Manage and coordinate BESS layout and design optimisation processes with support from Cero engineering team

Support on negotiation of BESS SCA, EPC and LTSA contracts

Leading negotiation of technical schedules of all BESS construction and operation contracts

Supporting on interface definition between BESS, PV, Grid and RtM.

Inputting to Owner's Engineer and quality assurance workstreams

Support on technical due diligence for projects, helping to close off outstanding risks for successful financial close

Support on preparation of material for internal approvals including technical summaries of projects and risk mitigation approaches

Conducting site visits to pre-construction sites

Preparing detailed project specific technical specifications for inclusion within EPC tender packages

Owning and updating BESS Employer’s Requirements on a regular basis and per project

Managing negotiation of all technical schedules

Interaction with the relevant in-house teams – Corporate Development, Project Development, Engineering/Construction, Finance and Legal

Assist procurement team in reviewing EPC, O&M and module quotations focusing on technical aspects

Provide input in the transaction budgeting process

About you

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Experience in engineering consultancy, development or contractor roles with a technical focus
  • Must have a strong technical knowledge of renewable energies with a focus on BESS
  • Be able to manage balancing technical risk with commercial considerations in order to optimise project outcomes
  • Have a strong understanding of how to negotiate technical schedules within BESS SCA and LTSA contracts
  • Have the ability to coordinate, review and manage due diligence workstreams with external technical advisors
  • Have experience working across multiple countries and projects in a fast-paced environment with an attitude for continuous learning and development through project experience
  • Excellent presentation skills including preparation of materials
  • Fluent in English – spoken and written. Additional languages such as Spanish or Italian will be looked upon favourably.
