Your Opportunity
One Temporary Full Time Position.
The Commodity Risk, Student Intern will assist the Commodity Risk Group with the day-to-day monitoring function within the Commodity Risk Management Program. This includes monitoring commodity trading activities, conducting trade confirmations with counterparties, creating and monitoring forward price curves, and supporting the team’s project work.
You will contribute to the team by:
- Ensuring data integrity of the Energy Trading Risk Management System
- Conducting confirmation process to ensure compliance to Policies and standards
- Assisting with the monitoring, investigating, and preparing non-compliance exception reports
- Validating, verifying, and approving forward price curves
- Monitoring signing authorities on transactions
- Monitoring the impact of new and revised transactions
- Ensuring encouraging and collaborative relationships with various internal and external stakeholders are built and maintained
- Support projects with data and research tasks
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
Post-secondary student in Canada, enrolled in one of the following areas of study:
- Business
- Economics
- Engineering
- Information technology
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Statistics
Experience & Technical Skills:
- Motivated team player that is eager to learn and apply new skills
- Demonstrates professionalism and reliability in carrying out tasks
- Attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite experience (Excel, Word, Office)
- Basic understanding of markets, commodities and trading concepts
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid Office/Work from home position.
- Open to candidates in either Calgary or Edmonton.
Additional Details:
Duration: May 2025 - August 29, 2025
