Are you a seasoned tax professional with a passion for optimizing tax strategies and ensuring compliance on a global scale? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Tax Manager to join our team and support the GM Group Finance in maximizing shareholder value. This role offers the opportunity to oversee and manage all tax-related activities and governance across multiple jurisdictions, playing a key role in developing and implementing global tax strategies that align with our company's business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations through a robust governance framework.
  • Conduct tax risk assessments and implement controls.
  • Liaise with auditors for effective tax risk management.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, including tax authorities and advisors.
  • Train and support internal teams on tax matters.
  • Represent the company in tax audits, disputes, and litigation.
  • Develop and monitor transfer pricing structures.
  • Identify optimal legal structures.

Business Impact Tax Management:

  • Identify changes to taxes and duties via services or new technology components and assess their impact on the business.
  • Provide high-level impact analysis to business and external stakeholders.
  • Support in identifying projects that could provide value to the group.
  • Provide tax advice on international business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestments, and restructuring.
  • Monitor changes in international tax legislation and assess their impact on the company.

Tax Compliance:

  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns across all jurisdictions.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of tax provisions and tax disclosures in financial statements.
  • Manage the global tax compliance calendar to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Review global monthly tax calculations and tax filings for various jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and review required tax documentation and reports.

Tax Audits and Controversies:

  • Evaluate requests for information from government officials and develop strategies to defend tax filing positions.
  • Provide regular internal staff training on various tax topics.

International Tax:

  • Review overseas returns prepared by local management/advisors to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Support the accurate preparation of the company’s foreign income tax expense for financial statements.
  • Analyse the tax aspects of financial projections and forecasts.

Transfer Pricing:

  • Assist with the execution of global transfer pricing policies.
  • Monitor international tax developments and support the development of action plans to mitigate adverse consequences.
  • Prepare and review transfer pricing documentation and related reports.

 

Knowledge & experience:

  • Extensive experience (8-10 years) in direct and indirect taxes impacting large corporate taxpayers.
  • Strong knowledge of international tax laws and regulations.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing global tax strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Tax Software (e.g., Tax Integrator) and general ledger packages (SAP, BPC).
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
