Biodiversity Senior Consultant

ERM is seeking an experienced Biodiversity Impact Assessment Senior Consultant and/or Project Manager in our Bangkok, Thailand office, to provide project management and senior technical assistance on Environmental and Biodiversity Impact Assessments for large-scale capital development projects for renewables and infrastructure sector clients.  As a senior manager, you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in the APAC region, while networking with ERM's global Impact Assessment technical team to share multi-disciplinary resources and best practices across the industry.

ROLE PROFILE:

  • Manage and provide technical expertise on Environmental and Biodiversity Impact Assessments projects and related activities in support of ERM clients’ capital development projects (i.e., oil and gas, power generation, electrical transmission, and renewable energy projects) to meet international lenders requirements
  • Lead biodiversity scopes and associated management plans in compliance with good international industry practices, including providing technical inputs to the design of baseline surveys, coordinating and supervising fieldwork, drafting technical reports and sections, and providing technical advice support to baseline, Critical Habitat Assessment reports, international environmental impact assessment reports and management plans;
  • Apply technical knowledge in baseline environmental data collection, reporting and impact assessment and foster technical growth of junior members of the biodiversity team;
  • Perform site visits or inspections and supervise subcontractors as and when required for projects. Focus on preparing international environmental impact assessment and management plans.
  • Provide biodiversity support, as and when needed, by undertaking research and data analysis for environmental and social managers within the broader Capital Project Delivery - Impact Assessment team.
  • Oversee multiple projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Prepare technical proposals, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.  Maintain client relationships to support repeat business.
  • Collaborate with other ERM impact assessment practitioners to execute impact assessment projects (services within our Capital Project Delivery service area include environmental impact assessment, land planning, facility siting & permitting, risk assessment and water resources management).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant environmental, scientific or engineering subject.
  • Minimum 5-12 years of experience in a relevant biodiversity field of expertise.
  • High degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices, with a solid grasp of the key impact assessment and management issues within the renewables and infrastructure sector.
  • Solid experience building sustaining relationships with major clients.
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
  • Recognized technical expertise by and established reputation in the local marketplace, including positive reputation with key regulators relevant to impact assessment approvals.
  • In depth understanding of biodiversity context and impacts of developments
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel to an advanced level.
  • Use of IBAT and other biodiversity databases
  • Complex survey design and analysis
