Job Description

Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing aspects of the group’s financial reporting and operations.  The Director will also be instrumental in re-shaping current processes and implementing change management.  The ideal candidate excels in dynamic settings, navigates complex organizational structures with ease, and has proven finance/accounting experience.

Overview:

  • Manage a 5-person finance team to complete reporting under IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Position the team for our next growth phase through automation and process improvement.
  • Manage financial operations and controls over reporting, performance measurement, and SOX compliance.

Process improvements:

  • Assess improvement opportunities, manage the change process, and ensure sustained improvements.
  • Automate recurring analysis and working papers involving large data sets.
  • Design and develop practical and user-friendly Excel models and templates.
  • Ensure continuous collaboration and support to team members and stakeholders.

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the quarterly consolidation process for the corporate segment, including various reporting packs required for the company’s public reporting under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Maintain monthly management reports supported by analysis and work papers.
  • Review accounting entries and accounting packages from regional subsidiaries
  • Assist with managing corporate operations including liquidity management, forecasting and compliance
  • Liaise with and support Fund operations, tax, legal, and treasury on complex technical accounting steps.
  • Establish and maintain robust processes over accounting operations, and ensure key internal controls meet quality standards including SOX requirements.

Performance measurement

  • Participate in the twice-yearly business plan process across the platform to align with corporate growth strategy.
  • Report on key metrics such as fee-bearing capital, management fees and carried interest through review of financial models.
  • Prepare and review quarterly presentations on key drivers behind operating results.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • CA or CPA designation with at least 7 - 9 years of experience in roles that produced financial statements and with at least 3 years of experience in managing teams.
  • Enjoys an entrepreneurial environment that requires rolling up the sleeves and fostering a “can do” culture.
  • Critical thinker who analyzes and solve complex problems in unstructured situations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and can simplify complex issues to a wide audience.
  • Advanced Excel skills and has a tech-savvy attitude to identify, analyze and implement changes that enhance business performance.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics and OneStream is an asset.
