Position: Project Director
Supervisor: VP, Project Execution
Classification: Salaried Exempt
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Establish and maintain successful customer and/or community relationships
- Conduct key customer/stakeholder visits throughout the project, from pre-construction to close-out, ensuring that you are sticking to project commitments and resolving any issues in a timely manner
- Negotiate contracts and change orders with support of legal and project management teams
- Act as customer executive contact for all assigned projects
- Deliver a positive customer experience that drives follow on business
- Support business development initiatives in establishing and building on client relationships
- Preview proposals before submission and participate in Request for Proposal process
Oversight and accountability for projects
- Overall accountability for project schedule, safety and budget
- Establish and implement project objective and procedures
- Set strategic direction for project including subcontract vs self-perform decisions
- Lad team to develop conceptual, preconstruction and construction phase project schedules and cost estimates leveraging existing industry knowledge and experience
- Present project budgets, costs, and pricing, ensuring delivery of a profitable project.
Provide leadership to project team
- Lead and manage the project management and construction management team assigned to projects
- Mentor and lead team members, establishing and fostering team environment
- Forecast resource needs and proactively hire for those needs
- Develop team members for future career consideration and training opportunities
Other duties as assigned
- Provide high-level management of quality, risk, safety, and compliance for the project and team members
- Use the appropriate level of forethought and planning in decision-making to ensure project success
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage
- Overall accountability for the success of projects
How will you succeed?
- Being able to manage across multiple project teams to ensure the success of each portfolio
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input, new ideas and feedback
- Ability to travel to project sites and home office intermittently
Education and experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Minimum 10 years experience in construction management overseeing large projects
- Experience taking conceptual design through construction, working with internal and external partners
- Current driver’s license
