About the Job
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager shall be committed to the Safety of our Team and Products. Thereafter, the EHS Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership maintaining a Safety-First Culture in all PURIS operations and offices. Furthermore, the EHS Manager will utilize the following leading values: All injuries and incidents are preventable, actions and behaviors cause injuries, all incidents are investigated and acted upon, employee and contractor safety are the same, the Dawson Leadership Team is accountable for the safety of those they lead, and safety matters both on and off the job.?Furthermore, the EHS Manager shall embody the PURIS core values: Integrity, Leadership, Openness, Global Vision, Adaptability, and Partnership.
Pay Rate/Range: $100,000 - $115,153

Work Location: Dawson Pea Manufacturing Plant
*The salary for this role will be based on qualifications, experience, market data, and internal equity. Actual pay may vary due to factors such as location, skills, education, and performance. Pay is determined transparently, using market benchmarks and ensuring internal equity.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for the oversight of PURIS Behavior Based Safety (BBS) concepts to drive 100% safe work days for the organization.
- Responsible for the development of clear safety goals and objectives that will lead the organization to high standards of performance.
- Responsible for the development and continuous improvement of PURIS training programs that not only comply with OSHA regulations but foster the culture of safe work behaviors.
- Responsible for ensuring that all Dawson staff has completed the necessary training assigned to ensure zero incidents and injuries.
- Responsible for the completion and on time submittal of annual OSHA required reporting & documentation completion / filing.
- Responsible for conducting all required monthly environmental inspections and all necessary documentation required therein.
- Responsible for reporting all environmental incidents to the appropriate government agencies.
- Accountable for the completion of the monthly Compliance Assistance Program (CAP) items required to meet all required local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Responsible for meeting and exceeding safety supply overhead spend
- Develop a Corporate wide Safety Policy and engage the entire company in Safety Leadership
- Leadership (meaning active participation) reinforcement, demonstrated management and commitment to Safety Practices from the most senior level employees down.
- Lead a diverse Safety Steering Team (committee) consisting of members throughout the facility.
- Organize Line Management Accountability to achieve Continuous Safety Improvement
- Develop Effective Safety Audits (1st and 2nd Party) for all working areas of the company
- Utilize Safety Metrics to understand what is working well and where gaps exist
- Other projects and duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in safety management, industrial health and safety or a related field. Or greater than 10 Years in similar Manufacturing Industry leading Safety Improvement.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing and leading operational safety, preferably within the food industry with proven ability to deliver results.
- Certified safety professional – Minimum OSHA 10 & 30
- Experience leading safety across multiple manufacturing facilities, both union and non-union, required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally more with assistance
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling tools and machinery
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders as needed
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures (hot, cold, humid)
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots
- Visual and auditory ability to detect safety hazards and machine malfunctions
- Ability to push, pull, squat, kneel, or twist as needed during shift
- Ability to perform repetitive motions consistently and safely
- May be required to sit or operate forklifts or machinery for extended periods
