Safety Specialist (Field Based)

About the Job
ERM is hiring a Safety Specialist onsite at a key client located in Odessa, Texas. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring health and safety compliance with applicable regulations and existing company standards and contributing to an environment where employee health and safety is preserved. The ideal candidate will bring working knowledge of H&S technical capability and deep understanding of business processes to help our clients proactively address their health and safety risks and challenges. This is a full-time (40 hours a week) limited-term role, with a duration of 6-months, extendable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical assistance on safety-related compliance projects; safety management system development and implementation; process safety, safety oversight, industrial hygiene monitoring; and safety auditing.
- Develop safety procedures, plans, permits, and reports.
- Assess regulatory compliance across various safety programs and environmental media.
- Perform compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Design and implement safety management systems and programs.
- Provide on-site H&S compliance support.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, chemical engineering or related degree. Masters preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in working with chemical, manufacturing or industrial companies on H&S compliance programs, PSM, PHA, HAZOP, Mechanical Integrity, MOC, PSSR, or Process Safety Information.
· Be passionate about safety performance improvement and have working experience with the H&S topics such as:
· LOTO
· Confined space
· Hazard recognition
· Scaffolding
· Excavation
· Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of federal and state OSHA regulations.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· MS Office Suite and database management for managing large volumes of data.
